  • Yarn 201 - an excellent sequel

    February 28, 2012 1 min read

A customer came in to rave about Yarn 201 and I thought I'd share it with you:

I have an unbelievable stash.  I have more yarn than you can imagine, and no idea what to do with it.  Yarn 101 taught me how to understand it so that I could sort it out.  I went home and inventoried my yarn and sorted it according to fiber and function and then according to weight.

In Yarn 201 we learned in much more detail the behavior of various yarns and why certain yarns were especially well-suited to certain patterns and how to tell what might be the right kind of garment for yarns that are simply tempting.  I chose two yarns that I liked for a particular pattern. I learned about the characteristic of the yarns I had chosen and the process of thinking through how they would work in a pattern.  I gained the confidence that my selections would turn out as I anticipated.

The concept of "Form follows function" is invaluable.  The handout of how to select a yarn for a project was really invaluable.
