Addi Click Interchangeable needle set, that is!  Yes, after much waiting, these gorgeous needles are in stock at both Leonardtown and La Plata.  In order to be fair, Skacel, exclusive distributor of the genuine Addi Click sets, limited each retail store to 10 sets.  If you’re hoping to have these under the tree this year, tell Santa to hurry up before they’re all gone.  If already contacted me to request one of these sets, I have put it behind the counter for you.

We have wooden swifts and ball winders arriving next week as well.  We have ordered several, but they tend to go quickly this time of year.  If you are interested in one of these handy sets, let me know, and we will add you to the list and call you as soon as they come in.

This Saturday we have three great classes.  In Leonardtown, at 10 a.m. we’re beginning the next Fit and Finish session with the Katarina jacket.  If you are signed up for this class in Leonardtown, please wear a fairly close-fitting garment, such as a turtle neck or shell.  Please bring a tape measure, pencil, and calculator.  If you can find a cardigan you like very much, bring that with you as well.

In the afternoon at Leonardtown, we’re offering the  felted slippers class.  These knit up very quickly on size 13 needles, so you have plenty of time to make them as holiday gifts.

In La Plata, this Saturday afternoon, Lynne Warren is teaching a beginners sock class.  Lynne is a wonderfully experienced and fun teacher.  She will have you laughing while you learn to everything you every wanted to know about socks.  Whether you’ve never tried socks before, or if you’ve tried, but have not quite gotten it, then this class is for you.  Call the shop to register.  Class size is limited..  If you’d like to take the class but you’ve never worked in the round on either double points or a long circular needle, come in a bit early and we’ll get you started.  Socks are the ultimate interstitial time project.  Get started on yours this Saturday.

Text Box: What’s inside

When you knit your own garments, you can make them fit you exactly right.  You can adjust many aspects of the pattern to suit your individual shape and body proportions.  Once you know what you’re doing, it’s actually pretty easy simple to make changes that ensure your garment fits you perfectly.

In this three-week class, we’ll knit Katarina, a flattering and versatile jacket that can be worn three different ways.  You’ll learn how to take accurate body measurements and how to determine where and how much you might want to tailor the pattern to suit you.  We’ll help you learn how to decide which size you should knit, and you’ll learn how to ensure that the shoulders will fit perfectly, the sleeves will be the right length, and the waist-shaping and hemline will be in the ideal spot for you.

And at the other end of this class is the finishing process.  As I say over and over, good finishing is the difference between a fine hand-tailored garment and one that looks “homemade”.  We’ll show you how to

I finished my circular shrug, and it’s decidedly my new favorite thing.  This terrific pattern looks so complicated, but it’s actually nothing more than a rectangle worked in ribbing and mock ribbing.  You can jazz it up by working the ribbing in a fancy yarn or you can do the entire thing in a beautiful multi-colored yarn like Ellyn Cooper or Noro.  Any size yarn will work!  We’ll be doing a free project class on it in La Plata next Wednesday.  Join us and whip up a fun festive wrap for the holidays or knit it as a lovely gift that everyone will enjoy.
