A beautiful and earth-friendly new yarn from Gedifra, Arborea is a natural plant-dyed woven cotton tape. The dyes give Arborea's colors an appealing, slightly sandwashed look giving even plain stockinette fabric lovely dimension. With a matte finish and great stitch definition, Arborea lets your work take center stage.
Light and cool, an Arborea garment is comfortable to wear even on the hottest of days. Its flat chainette construction gives Arborea a certain elasticity that you don't typically find in cotton yarns. You'll work it on a larger needle to get a worsted gauge of around 18 stitches to 4 inches. We have swatched it at larger and smaller gauges, and it looks great at both. It would make a perfectly beautiful summer tank like Big Wave by Heidi Kirrmaier or an all season Weekender by Andrea Mowry. See both under the Featured Pattern tab

Arborea is absolutely perfect for Big Wave by Heidi Kirrmaier. It looks like a simple tank, but side increases and decreases make it interesting to knit and special to wear. Worked seamlessly from the top down, it would knit up in a weekend. Perfect on its own, it would also be a lovely all-season layering garment.

Andrea Mowry's Weekender is designed for a wool, but why not change it up for spring and work it in Arborea! Light and bouncy like wool, but cool and comfortable like cotton. What could be more perfect?
