Faith is a light and lofty yarn with a hand so soft you won't believe it. That's because Faith is what's known as a blown yarn, which means that rather than being spun in the traditional sense, a blown yarn is constructed by blowing unspun fibers into a mesh tube. The result is a softness and lightness that garments knit in them absolutely delightful to wear.
This construction method has several other benefits as well. Since the yarn isn't made of individual plies, and not twisted, it's not splitty to knit or to crochet whether you hold your yarn in your right hand or your left. It also means that you get more yardage, which is always nice.
I usually say that softness and durability are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but that's not true for blown yarns. The tube into which they're blown protects the soft fibers inside and so Faith is much more durable than is typical for a yarn this soft. It's kind of like having your cake and eating it too.
Perfectly happy at an aran gauge, which is what the ball band says, I've listed Faith as a chunky because we have found it to also be best on a US 10 (6.5mm) or even larger. Since its construction gives it extra durability, you don't have to worry about pilling when you knit Faith on the loose side.
