Rustic Silk is just like it sounds -- a silk with an earth quality that makes a beautiful textured fabric. Silk is cool and comfortable to wear, and it takes dye like a dream, so the colors are rich and vibrant.
As you choose patterns for this lovely fiber, remember that silk is an inelastic fiber -- it lacks the springy quality of wool, which means that you'll need t knit it on a slightly smaller needle, and your fabric will not have the resilience of wool. But what this yarn lacks in elasticity, it more than makes up for in other wonderful qualities. For instance, Rustic Silk knit in stockinette will resists curling, drape beautifully, and feel light and cool to wear. We love all of these qualities for our featured pattern, the Cowl Shell, which specifically calls for a yarn like Rustic Silk.
Classified as a fingering weight yarn, Rustic Silk is happy to be knit as loosely as 22 stitches to 4" with no problem.
