Our selection for this month is Educated, by Tara Westover. It's the gripping story of a young girl living in a separatist family in rural Idaho. I don't want to spoil it for you, I won't say much about the plot, but it is a fascinating glimpse into an alien lifestyle. At times, it's hard to hear what happens to the various family members, and even harder to accept that this is a memoir of the real life of a survivor.
Beautifully and honestly written, it's poignant, frightening, and in the end, gratifying. Join us Wednesday, January 23rd to discuss. There's no fee to attend, but please register so I know how many sets of discussion topics to print out.
There are lots of interesting interviews, TED Talks and more here on Youtube. Check it out.
