Crazy for Ewe
Crazy for Ewe
This time of year, when it's cold and dreary, I crave comfort food -- and comfort knitting. I want warm and snuggly. I want Umaro. Snuggly. Umaro really kind of defines the term. A great big pile of softest merino so cuddly you want to live curled up in it. Richly cabled and cozy, Umaro is the most perfect of napping companions. It's knitting's equivalent of winter time comfort food. It's pot roast and mashed potatoes - meatloaf and gravy with a side of macaroni and cheese. It's exactly what you want when leaving the couch is absolutely the last thing you want to do. Just bring me a plate, and I'll eat right here, thank you so
much. Ushya is a perfect yarn for the Umaro afghan. In another yarn, Umaro could feel heavy, but thanks its chainette construction, Ushya is light and lofty. Like a perfect English Muffin, it's full of nooks and crannies that trap the air so it's warm and weightless. The yarn's construction also makes it bouncy so your Umaro will keep its shape for years to come - it will never look saggy or tired, which is more than I can say for some of my other things these days ;) The sample is worked in ecru which is perfect for a clean, classic look, but there is also a lovely gray (Silver Clouds), a nice dark denim (Grape Hyacinth), and several other traditional colors that would complement any decor.
Choose your color and join us for the knitalong, either here at the shop, or on-line. I'll be blogging about my Umaro progress, and posting pictures. Please knit along with us - send pictures, ask questions.
It's a quick and fun project you'll love knitting almost as much as you'll love snuggling.
