I am excited to share that Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada, is speaking at the Washington, DC Textile Museum next month.  A world renowned textile artist, curator, researcher and author, Ms. Wada's own work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution’s Renwick Gallery and the International Textile Fair in Kyoto.  She has been a consultant to designers in the USA, India, and Japan, including costume designer Colleen Atwood for the movie Memoirs of a Geisha (Academy Award for Best Costume Design)

Ms. Wada is author and co-author of several books including The Kimono Inspiration: Art and Art to wear in America as well as two books on Shibori, the Japanese art of resistance dyeing.   In 2010, she was named a "Distinguished Craft Educator - Master of Medium" by the James Renwick Alliance of the Smithsonian Institution, who stated: "she is single-handedly responsible for introducing the art of Japanese shibori to this country". She has curated exhibitions at the Textile Museum in Washington, DC, the Museum of Craft and Folk Art in San Francisco and the Jim Thompson Art Center in Bangkok, Thailand.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that this is a very cool artist and an amazing opportunity.  As a devotee of Japanese textiles and fiber (Noro anyone?) I am beyond thrilled about this event.

I've put together a wonderful evening in which you can meet Ms. Wada at a special reception and hear her speak about Japanese textile inspirations and influence.  I've hired a limousine to whisk us in luxury and style right to the museum's front door, so you don't have to worry about driving or parking.  We'll need to leave here by 4 pm, which doesn't allow much time for dinner, so I'm having catered box dinners prepared for us to enjoy on the way up.  We'll arrive calm and refreshed at 6 o'clock - just in time to have a glass of wine and meet the artist before the talk.

Afterwards, our limo driver will whisk us back while we relax.  It's going to be a fabulous evening!

If you are interested, please sign up right away.  Space is very limited.
