Here we are, second week of December.  This is when I remember my idea to knit a bunch of things for my family.  If you were born organized, you've probably already finished a sweater for everyone on your list.  That's fabulous - good for you.  I promise to like you anyway.  For the rest of us, don't despair. There's still plenty of time for all kinds of awesome things you'll love to knit and be proud to give. We've lined up several fabulous, quick to knit projects you can work up in an evening or two.  Depending on how many folks on your holiday list, you can give something hand-knit to almost everyone. First, we're starting a great knitalong next week for this beautiful Shawl Collared Cowl by Alana Dakos.

Ginni whipped up one of these up while she was in Denver, and her daughter-in-law just loved it.  It's a fun little project that makes a great gift, and it's a terrific opportunity to bone up on your short-row skills.  Join us to get started - Tuesdays at 2pm -December 15 and 22.  We're recommending Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Chunky - It's a lovely soft fiber, and Berroco is offering a free pattern for every $25 you spend on Berroco Yarn at your local yarn store.

Another quick project is these fingerless mitts.  Worked in worsted weight yarn, these are cute and quick. They're a great excuse to play with Moonshine, a delicious blend of alpaca and silk from Juniper Moon Farms.  Just one skein will do a pair.

Boot Toppers are a fashionista-approved project that work up quickly.  This version is done with one skein of Kathmandu Aran Tweed and looks very chic with the ever-popular riding boot, or my favorite cowboy boots.

I did a pair for my daughter and her sorority sisters all wanted to know where she'd bought them.  That's a pretty high compliment in my book. There's also this pair too with cables.

For the very last minute, try anything in a super bulky yarn like Kureyon Air, Mirasol Ushya, or Rowan Big Wool or Big Wool Color

Unbiased Serendipity - This cowl is simple to knit and lets Rowan's Big Wool Color take center stage.  Worked in the round, it's cozy, colorful, and fun.  A perfect accessory for anyone who enjoys things that are bright and slightly playful.

Mary's Bubble Cowl is twice as fast, and takes just one skein of Big Wool Color.

Infinitely Light - This is a small infinity scarf that works up super-fast on big needles.  You can make the smaller version with just one skein or the large with two.  This is a total fashionista project - especially the larger one.  My daughter, Katie, has officially approved it.

Shoulder capelet - Also worked with just a couple of skeins of Kureyon Air, this is just the thing for anyone who works in a cold office, or lives with someone who keeps the house frigid all winter.

Stop by and see all the beautiful last minute gifts you can knit while you enjoy all those classic holiday movies.  Movies and knitting go so well together!

I look forward to seeing you in the shop and around the table - you are always welcome here!

Ellen, do we need to sign up for the Knitalong? Is it a kit I purchase or do I need to get the materials on my own?
