I put an extra large photo in the blog so you can get a nice close-up look at this beautiful top. The Four-Knot cable motif, also referred to as St. John's Cross is a Vikings good luck symbol. Hey, we could all use a little good luck, couldn't we!
The pattern calls for the cable on the front with only the vertical line of reverse stockinette on the back. If you prefer, you could certainly work the cable on the back as well as the front. I've still not decided which way I'll do mine. Today at the shop Ginni had on this beautiful shell also designed by Elsebeth Lavold
I believe this has the motif on both the front and the back. Ginni looked great coming and going, so you could certainly add that cable to the back of Gyrid if you like.
