Nob Hill shrug

Finished my Nob Hill Thursday - blocked, seamed, and ends woven in. I'm pretty happy with it. I am 36" around, and I made the second size (40"), but I'm not convinced it's the right size for me. The other option was a 32", but that just seemed really small for me. Besides, I'd rather have it a little generous than pulling open across the front. So, Friday morning at Coffee for Ewe I coaxed forced everyone in the shop to try it on to help me decide.
First Ginni, who was a very good sport about it all. I can't remember Ginni's actual bust measurement, but I know she typically knits garments one size larger than I do. This size fits her perfectly. Ginni is taller than I am by a couple of inches, but not as long-waisted. You can see that the shrug hits me just at my waist, and hits Ginni a little bit below her waist. 
Here it is on Judy. She's about my size, but much shorter than either Ginni or I, and you can see how much longer it hangs on her. While I'm at it, let me just say that this color is really nice on everyone. I'm not a big brown person, but this is a good brown with a bit of black in the mix. This shrug will go with black, brown, cognac, and khaki
Nicole is shorter too, and she typically knits a large or extra large, but you can see that this size is a bit off, but not by too much. She bought some Ushya for her Nob Hill, which also knits up at exactly the same gauge as Sundae. When she knits the next size up, it be longer and fit perfectly.If you want to make your Nob Hill longer or shorter, you can always increase or decrease the number of rows between shapings.
