I love this new yarn, Rizos. It's so easy to knit on any size needle, and it makes the cutest little ruffle ever. I worked up a simple scarf pattern in a smooth yarn and added a ruffle trim to the edge. Takes about 300 yards of yarn plus one skein of Rizos. I used Bambool for summer, but it would be equally lovely in Pure Pima, Nashua cotton/linen, or Mulberry Silk.
Here's the pattern
Using a size 8 needle, cast on 3stitches,
Increase section
Row 1: k1, kfb, k to end
Row 2: knit
Row 3: k1, kfb, k to end
Row 4: knit
Row 5: k1, kfb, k to end (6 stitches on the needle)
Row 6: k5 purl to end
Begin pattern
Row 1: (RS) k1, kfb, knit to end
Row 2: k5, purl to end
Repeat these two pattern rows until there are 55 stitches on your needle
Straight section
Row 1: (RS) knit
Row 2: k5, purl to end
Repeat these two pattern rows to give you 15 inches of straight section, ending with a WS row
Decrease section
Row 1: (RS) k1, ssk, knit to end
Row 2: k5, purl to end
Repeat these two pattern rows until you have just 3 stitches on the needle
Bind off three remaining stitches.
Pick up for ruffle:
With right side of work facing, use a long circular needle (size 6 or smaller) and Rizos to pick up one stitch in every other row along the angled edge of the scarf. Knit three rows with the Rizos and bind off with the Rizos. During bind off, I skipped every other opening in the Rizos.
