We've gotten in yet another new yarn this past week - Captiva, Berroco's offering for the shiny watery fashion theme going on this spring.

I had a sample skein, but not a color card, so I had to trust the colors on the web when I placed the order. They all looked absolutely luminous, and when the yarn arrived, Berroco did not disappoint. Captiva is shimmery and silky, and the colors are just amazing. Iridescent is the word that comes to mind. Think how an opal would look if it were spun into yarn! That's what the Captiva looks like. It's soft and supple but not at all limp.

Captiva feels very cool in your hand, and it's easy to imagine how pleasant the fabric would be against your skin when the temperatures pass scortching. (Hard to imagine that now, with the crazy snow we had today!) Anyway, although Captiva is billed as a spring-summer yarn, it's really much more versatile than that. I can see it for evening in a silky open cardigan like this one or in this little slip of a thing, both by CocoKnits. It's a beautiful fiber you'll enjoy knitting and wearing now and throughout the year. The hardest part will be picking your color!
