Home for the Holidays

I love this time of year! Sure it's stressful with all that needs to be done, but my kids are all coming home and I could not ask for anything more! At the shop, we're preparing for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, and the many holiday knitters who come to the area to visit family and friends and always stop in at Crazy for Ewe to see the latest and stock up.

As wonderful as it is getting together, the holidays can be hard - there is always some topic on which family members may not see eye to eye. My advice? Get a project you love, and just smile and knit. Maybe get a project that's complicated enough you can look up after a particularly rancorous interchange, smile beatifically and say, "I'm sorry, Uncle Wilbur, I was counting my stitches..."

I am proud that here in the shop, there has been unerring civility and grace despite a contentious election and a variety of opinions and perspectives about many things. Despite our differences, we care deeply about one another and choose to focus on that which unites us in our craft rather than those issues that are divisive. What a better place the world would be if everyone came to the table to knit!

We are getting settled in our new shop - if you haven't been in to see, this is a terrific week to make the trip. We're stocked up with fabulous new goodies for the holidays.
