As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on all that’s happened—those special moments, personal milestones, and the things we’ve learned. There’s something truly powerful about pausing to take stock of the good things in our life and celebrating all the good times we've had, and all that we've learned and accomplished. It's always more than we realize!
This year, you did things worth celebrating. Maybe you finished that challenging project you’d been putting off or tried your hand at something completely new. Perhaps you mastered a skill you’d been intimidated by (brioche anyone?) or just figured out what you need for a new project. Each accomplishment—big or small—matters, because they all represent effort, creativity, and persistence.
Reflect on What You’ve Learned
Each project teaches us something, doesn’t it? Whether it’s the importance of blocking, the magic of gauge, or the power of patience, our knitting reflects the lessons of the year. Think back on the knowledge and skills you’ve gained, the inspiration you’ve found, and the ways you’ve stretched yourself. Honestly, even the worst mess ups teach us how not to do a thing.
The best moments of the year aren’t always flashy or grand—they’re quiet and comforting. Getting together with family and friends to watch a movie or have coffee, or knit, of course. These little moments are treasures. Together, they create the fabric of a fulfilling year.
Taking time to write down these simple happy memories is such a meaningful exercise. If you keep a daily journal, or even just a calendar of your commitments, you can flip through and note them somewhere. It’s a wonderful way to end the year on a positive note and step into the new one with gratitude and joy.
Looking Ahead
As we close the chapter on this year, let’s carry forward the joy, gratitude, and creativity it brought. Take the time to honor everything you’ve done and learned—it’s the foundation for even more wonderful things in the year to come.
I’d love to hear about your highlights from this year! What brought you joy or helped you grow? Share your reflections in the comments—I’d love to celebrate with you.
Here’s to a beautiful end to this year and an exciting start to the next!
Warmly,
Ellen
