Years ago I read an article in Gourmet Magazine by a woman who had planned a dining trip around Europe.  She scoped out all the top restaurants and booked hotels accordingly.  For months before the trip, she pored over the menus, deciding what she would order, focusing on the specialties of each area and each chef to ensure the optimal experience at each restaurant and throughout her trip

After the trip, at home, writing about the experience, she realized that while she had eaten very well and had absolutely the best meals in the world, there was a anti-climactic feel to the experience.  Going into the restaurant and ordering what she'd planned took away the excitement.  She didn't get that thrill of surprise - the delight of the unexpected -- which is the most fun of all.

We all do this kind of thing to some extent - it's only natural to try and control your destiny, but there is such freedom in letting go - such joy!  Think how awesome it would be if your husband or best friend called up and said, "Hey, I have an idea for this weekend.  It's going to be amazing - pack a dress and some casual clothes.  I'll pick you up at 8!"  You love and trust this person, so you know it will be wonderful, and the excitement of a new and unknown adventure is a thrill in itself, isn't it!

That's what a mystery knitalong is -- someone you know and trust has chosen a knitting adventure for you.   No planning on your part, no reading ahead.  Just pick a color and come along for the ride -- take pleasure in the unexpected way things unfold before you.

This is going to be an especially awesome Mystery Knit with an elegant silk yarn, beautiful gradient colors, and beads.  Beads always make things fun to knit and a little bit glamorous to wear. The pattern is interesting and different - an inspired piece you'll like knitting and wearing.  Mary loves the pattern, and you know she's always got her finger on the pulse of what's hot and will never lead you astray.

Come choose your yarn (we've already paired coordinating beads with each color) and get ready for a wonderful adventure.

I look forward to seeing you in the shop and around the table.  You are always welcome here

Love the mystery knits! I wish I lived closer to the shop so I could visit and knit there more often. The ease with which I just purchased my kit for this project makes me love and appreciate your shop the most!
