You know I’m not usually an accessory knitter. I tend to jump straight to sweaters because I love making garments I can wear all season long. But after spending a fabulous week in Huntington Beach with my daughter--shopping for wedding gowns, making all the plans, soaking in that gorgeous California sunshine--I had a bit of a surprise. I thought it would be warm all the time (it’s California, right?), but as soon as the sun went down, that cool ocean breeze rolled in, and I found myself wishing I had a wrap tucked into my bag. Lesson learned: even in warm climates, a beautiful, cozy wrap is worth its weight in gold.

That’s exactly why I’m so excited about our newest arrival: Poema Cashmere. This yarn is the definition of luxury--80% extrafine merino (a dreamy 16 microns!) and 20% cashmere, spun in Italy into a single-ply yarn with the most stunning gradient color flow. It’s soft, squishy, and warm without feeling heavy, and the colors are pure magic. Each shade shifts seamlessly from one tone to the next, so you get an ombré effect without ever having to change yarns.

    Why you’ll love Poema Cashmere

    • Luxurious fiber blend: Extrafine merino + cashmere = next-level softness
    • Generous yardage: 545 yards in just one ball
    • Beautiful gradients: No need to fuss with color changes
    • Meditative to knit:  Nothing fancy needed--just relax into an easy mindful project

    Perfect projects for Poema Cashmere

With 545 yards in a single ball, Poema Cashmere is perfect for a generously sized wrap or shawl--exactly what I needed in Huntington Beach! Just one ball makes something you can throw over your shoulders on a cool evening, and two balls is enough for a luxuriously soft, lightweight sweater. Imagine knitting a statement piece where the yarn does all the color work for you--minimal effort, maximum impact. That's my jam for sure.  What project, you say?  I'm so glad you asked!  I am thinking the Groovy Shawl. An oldie but a goodie. Free pattern, and I love the way the alternating bands of stockinette and reverse stockinette showcase the colorshift.  There are lots of other options, but this is my pick!

    Why knit a gradient wrap?

Gradients are magical in knitting because they do the hard work of blending colors while you focus on the stitches. Every few inches you knit, the color shifts--not radically, but gently, subtly--just enough to keep you curious about what’s coming next. It’s the kind of knitting that’s meditative but never boring—perfect for unwinding after a busy day, or for keeping your hands moving while chatting or listening to an audio book (my favorite!)

    Not sold on a shawl?

I get it. You have enough shawls, or you never wear them.  The good news is that just two skeins makes the most stunning lightweight sweater or vest.  This is a good reason to work in pieces - start the back and front at the same spot so they line up--ditto the sleeves.  However, you can work from the top down--use both skeins at the same time--one on the front and one on the back so your colors flow from one to the next without repeating.

    Try it for yourself

If you’ve never worked with a gradient yarn before, Poema Cashmere is the perfect place to start. With just one luxurious skein you can knit a wrap that makes you feel like a million bucks.  You’re going to love how it feels in your hands and on your shoulders.

Shop Poema Cashmere now and find your perfect colorway—because you never know when you’ll need that just-right layer for a breezy evening.

Stock is limited, so don't wait.

I'll be swatching and sharing this yarn on YouTube live Wednesday (August 13, 2025) so join me for a look at all the colors and my favorite project suggestions.
