Can you believe it's August already?  When our kids were small, we would spend this first week of August at the beach - the last gasp of summer break before it was all back-to-school shopping and associated madness.  This year, schools don't start until after Labor Day, so we have this lovely respite in which to enjoy the last taste of the season.  Here at the shop, we're doing the same.  Our August First Friday project is a beautiful excuse to indulge in an exquisite new yarn perfect for the last of summer and into those September dog days we know all too well.

The fiber is Luxe Fingering, a delicious blend of equal parts mulberry silk and merino, carefully hand-dyed in softly gradient tones by artist Liz Capik, owner of Apple Tree Knits.  The project I've selected is Brickless, a fun and easy knit that shows off the subtle shift in colors as it moves from one stitch pattern to the next.  Not hard, and not boring, it's a perfect match of yarn and design.

We'll be starting the pattern together this First Friday, August 4th.  I'm also excited to note that this will be our first Knit 1 Sip 2 event, so come grab a skein of Luxe Fingering and a glass of wine and settle in for a lovely evening.  Outside on The Square for First Friday, enjoy the sounds of "The Lucky Few" playing classic rock.  Weather looks like it might even be nice enough to have the doors open in the shop.  Join us - it's going to be a wonderful evening!

I look forward to sharing a glass of wine and some fun conversation around the table with you.  You are always welcome here!
