For going on three weeks, I have been in Seattle, and so, not in the shop, obviously. Ginni and Mary and the team have been handling things perfectly well. Clearly, I am non-essential personnel.
It's kind of like being a mom. You raise your kids to be strong and independent, and then one day, you realize how self-sufficiently they manage things. They don't need you at all. Then something comes along, like, I don't know, maybe they have a baby, and all of a sudden they do need you. Not in the desperate, helpless way of a newborn, but in a mature, looking for a little guidance here, kind of way. I'm good with it. More than good.
As the infant-centric household settles into its new normal, I've been digging into the website, tending to glitches, large and small. There is still plenty to fix, from pictures to swatches, but when you go to crazyforewe.com, you will see better top menus, filters that help you find what you want, and everything in the shop showing up in at least one place on the website. It doesn't look like a huge difference, but trust me when I tell you the changes represents hours of reading how-to posts, banging my head against the keyboard, followed by endless mind-numbing minutiae. It was a jumbo-sized container of sprinkles that needed to be sorted by color. That's pretty much how it felt.
It's a task that has nibbled the back of my brain, and I'm glad it's done. I learned a lot, and there will be more to learn as the technology advances, but I feel caught up for now. Things are finally where I want them, and now I have a nice container to put any new sprinkles. There is still the matter of the endless shooting, editing, and posting of product photos and swatches, but, as I said, it all feels more manageable now. Anyone else feel the need for ice cream?
I hope you take a moment to look at the way you can use the top menus to find yarn by gauge and fiber or by some other characteristic. If there are other ways you'd like to see things sorted, please let me know.
I to being with you again in the shop and around the table
You are always welcome here.
Warmly,
Ellen
