There are plenty of yarns out there, and I don’t bring in new ones casually. But discovering Ikigai Fibers at Vogue Knitting Live felt different—it felt right. These yarns knit beautifully, the palette is spot on, and they’re produced with real care for the environment—a rare and wonderful combination I’m more than a little excited about.
Ikigai is a Japanese word that roughly translates to “your reason for being,” and that spirit comes through in every skein. This is yarn with purpose—designed to bring joy to the process and satisfaction to the finished piece.
The line features two standout bases:
Chibi Paka Chunky – a deliciously soft, sustainably sourced alpaca blend that’s perfect for quick, cozy knits.
Paka Washi – a lightweight yarn that combines baby alpaca with paper (!) for a unique texture and surprisingly wearable fabric.
Both are thoughtfully made, easy to care for, and a total pleasure to knit.
