Make your next hat project a little more interesting with Seasoning, designed by Lori Steinberg for Noro. Diamond cable panels add texture to classic K2, P2 ribbing, with a folded brim and a pompom for a playful finish.
Worked in the round in Noro Saiun, this intermediate knitting pattern offers four sizes from Child through Adult Large. The diamond panel includes both written instructions and a chart.

Sizes: Child (Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large). Shown in Adult Medium. Measurements below follow this size order.
Finished brim circumference, approximately: 17½ (19¼, 20¾, 22½) inches / 44.5 (49, 52.5, 57) cm.
Finished length with brim folded 2 inches / 5 cm: 5½ (7¼, 9, 9) inches / 14 (18.5, 23, 23) cm.
Yarn: 1 × 150g ball of Noro Saiun in color #16 for all sizes.
Needles: US 7 / 4.5mm circular needle, 16 inches / 40 cm long, or size to obtain gauge; one set of five US 7 / 4.5mm double-pointed needles.
Notions: Stitch markers, cable needle, and tapestry needle.
Gauge: 22 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm over K2, P2 ribbing, slightly stretched, using US 7 / 4.5mm needles. Check gauge before beginning.
Construction and details: Worked in the round from the ribbed brim to the shaped crown, with diamond cable panels. Diamond panel instructions are provided in written and charted form. Finish with a 3-inch / 7.5cm pompom and fold the brim approximately 2 inches / 5 cm.
