Sonata is really quite unlike any Noro you've ever used. Silky soft and wonderful right next to the skin - not a hint of itch or prickle, because there's not a hint of wool. Just fluffy unmercerized cotton, viscose (rayon) and silk, plus a little polyamide for strength. A sport/fingering weight yarn that comes in almost two dozen colors, it's a terrific yarn for summer shawls, tanks, and tees. Perfect too for anyone with any sensitvity to wool
Unlike most Noro yarns, Sonata does not stripe. Not at all. It's a semi-solid that works up with a beautifully subtle tonal variation. While Sonata is not hand-dyed, it looks like it is. Not sure how they do it, but whatever their secret, it gives your fabric depth and sophistication but never distracts from your stitches. Also, there's a little bit of thick and thin going on with Sonata which also adds to the lovely effect you get in your fabric - even plain stockinette looks beautiful in Sonata, but you can totally showcase the texture with a little seed stitch or even garter stitch if you like.
My favorite top for Sonata is Yume by Isabell Kraemer
