Here Kitty Kitty

We adopted a new kitty. We have this fussy Siamese cat, Missy, who belonged to my darling husband's mother. She doesn't like to sit in your lap, and she likes to be petted when and only when she wants it, and she's really fussy about who touches her (typical female, actually...)She had been declawed as a kitten, and I refuse to declaw a cat, so we had pretty much thought that we couldn't bring another cat home.

So, one of my customers mentioned that her unpleasant neighbors had been evicted and had immediately tossed their declawed, indoor cats out into the cold. She was feeding the cats but couldn't keep them. So, I decided someone was speaking to me by placing a neutered, declawed, affectionate kitty right in my path. We've named him Charles Henri Monchat (with a French accent) but the kids just call him Henry.Mostly he answers to "Here Kitty Kitty" and the clang of a food dish. Here's a photo of him on day one.You can see that he's getting ready to bolt, but he's tolerating the kids' attentions.

He's such a lovey cat. He and Missy have had their differences, but they're making progress. Henri has found all the soft warm spots in the house. He's recognized that kids are excellent sources of attention and that grandmothers are the perfect warm sleeping place. He gets more friendly and secure every day. I'm liking this a lot. I might have to knit him a Kitty Pi bed.

Ellen, I’m so happy that Henri (aka Mr. Cat) now has a family! I knew he was a great cat while he patiently waited through his one week “layover” at my house on his flight from the cold outdoors to your loving, warm home! I can’t wait for more updates (like when you actually witness signs of a kitty-truce)! :)
