What was in all those boxes?  Well, I was hoping it would be Borealis, because I finished my Newport Cardigan in that fabulous fiber, but it was two of their other new yarns:  Remix and Vintage Chunky.

Actually, it was kind of a nice surprise to receive the Remix because I didn't think it would be available for another month.  Remix is the lovely, completely machine washable and dry-able tweedy blend of cotton, silk, linen, etc that has absolutely no wool in it at all.  It's perfect for anyone who's sensitive to wool, or is just not going to handwash stuff.  I also thought it would be a wonderful all-year-round fiber in this climate.  It's one of those transitional fibers I was talking about a week or so ago in the newsletter - we want to look like autumn but still be comfortable during out Indian summers....

It's the same gauge as Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool XL  which is 17-19 stitches to 4 inches.  We've been drooling over several pattens.  I like both of these cardigans very much.

Ginni likes this long vest (partly, I think, because it looks more interesting to knit), but also because it has such nice long lines.

This one has a certain Japanese appealing as well

Most of these take 6 skeins or less of Remix - if you're interested in having one of these as a First Friday knit along, please comment on the blog, or vote for your favorite here - just put the name of your pick in the subject line.
