  • Leonardtown Snow Sunday

    December 27, 2010 1 min read

Very freakish, this snow in Leonardtown, since Charles County and the DC area got barely a dusting.  No one I spoke to up there seemed to realize what a snow we had, so here are some pictures from my back deck and out my front door.

These were taken in the early evening - maybe 4:30.  It continued to snow through the night, and we got another couple of inches.  I think it was around 5 inches in all.  My driveway was an ice patch, and the hill up to our little cul-de-sac was terribly slick .  Since we've had at least 4 cars end up in the ditch on either side of this hill when it snows, we opted to stay in.  Normally that would have been a no-brainer, but since I had bought tickets to take my mother to see South Pacific at the Kennedy Center, it was really a tough call.  Very frustrating.  We stayed home and watched Julie and Julie, which my daughter Katie had given me for Christmas.  Great film, by the way. I LOVE Meryl Streep so much, and I now have a much deeper appreciation for Julia Child as well.  And the cooking, of course, was wonderful. What a great idea, working your way through a book like that, don't you think?
