Let the Blocking Begin!!

Okay, yes, I'm squealing like a 13-year-old with a serious rock-star crush. It's done! It's done! It's done! My Sweet Dreams shawl (totally fabulous pattern from Boo Knits, available on Ravelry), worked in the wonderful Tosh Sock merino superwash from Madelinetosh. The amazing colorway is called Cousteau, which makes me happy, since the late Jacques Cousteau was one of my childhood idols.

And it has beads! I didn't think I was a bead girl, but I love the little extra touch of dress-up glamour that the beads bring to the party. The technique is dead simple, and after a couple of rows, I even got efficient enough at it that it didn't drive me too crazy.

The picot bind-off was likewise simple to execute, if very time-consuming. But really, that edge just makes the whole project: It creates and sustains the air of elaborate architectural ironwork that makes this design utterly special.

I'm going to have to block in sections, as this is a big wrap. Ellen kindly took the photo of the center pinned and steamed. Curving crescent sides come next. I can't wait to wrap all this gorgeousness around me. I may never take it off. ;)

Finishing a project, and having it come out just like you hoped (maybe a little better). Is there any finer moment for a knitter?
