Retreat 2018 - Winchester, Virginia

It's time! The 7th annual Crazy for Ewe Retreat is Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24 and it's going to be fabulous!  We're going to Winchester, Virginia, and staying at the elegant historic George Washington Wyndham Hotel right in the center of Winchester's downtown close to the pedestrian mall. 

Enjoy a beautiful drive across Virginia's rolling countryside and check in at the hotel Friday afternoon.  You can come early and book a massage at the hotel's spa, take a stroll around the town, or enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine at the hotel's Half Note Lounge.  We'll gather in the elegant Lord Fairfax Room for dinner around 5:30.  We'll have the room to ourselves all weekend, so after dinner you can hang out there and knit and visit, or you can wander back to the Half Note Lounge and enjoy the live music. 

Saturday we're doing a Cocoknits Sweater Method Workshop, (included in your retreat fee) so you can learn the wonderful Cocoknits method of knitting sweaters from the top down with set in sleeves.  If you've already done the Emma pullover, get started on a different version  - maybe a nice cardigan style in a summery yarn.  You'll get 10% off your yarn for the Cocoknits project. After the busy morning session, we'll break for a lunch buffet in the room and finish up afterwards.  Then doesn't a quick walk to the Red Fox Creamery for some homemade ice cream sound amazing!    

Everyone is on her own to explore Winchester's restaurant scene Saturday night.  There are several great restaurants around town, including two right at the hotel.  You may want to stay close to home and knit on your Cocoknits sweater, or you may want to take a dip in their beautiful pool, or book a spa service after your day of Cocoknitting. 

There's more live music at the Half Note Lounge, and also plenty of hotspots around town if that's your scene.  I'll be at Violino Ristoranate Italiano, which is a Northern Italian restaurant. You would be most welcome to join me there - just let me know and I'll include you in the reservation. 

Sunday morning is everyone's favorite Show and Share Brunch.  You'll enjoy a lovely brunch buffet and have the opportunity to show off your hand-knits to the most appreciative audience there is - other knitters!  After brunch, we'll check out and head back.  You might want to give yourself time to visit one of Virginia's beautiful wineries that might just happen to be on your way home. 

It's a beautiful weekend, and by then, the weather should most certainly have sorted itself out, and while we can't promise sun, we can definitely promise there won't be snow!
