Crazy for Ewe

It’s June, and this warm weather has me thinking about summer yarns —especially linen blend yarns. For summer 100% linen is great to wear - linen pants, dresses and shirts are beautifully breathable and moisture wicking, but knitting with 100% linen is not always the most fun.  

Linen yarn can be stiff and knitting or crocheting with it can be hard on the hands.  And let’s face it, if it’s no fun to knit, I’m probably not going to do.  While I am on a mission to create a hand-knit wardrobe, at the end of the day, it’s still a hobby, so if it’s not fun it stops being a hobby and starts being a job - and who needs that?  

The Noro Trunk show has arrived in its entirety.  We had a few pieces last week, but the mother lode arrived the next day, and I can't wait to share it with you this week live.   

During this week I've been playing with the garments - especially that vest I wanted so much to like.  It looked great on Ginni, but on me, it was

Every single capsule wardrobe expert says you need a classic white tee shirt. It can be dressed up or down, they say.  It goes with everything, they claim.  

But there’s a problem.  .

I don’t wear tee shirts.  At all. Ever..

The evolution of yarn construction is a fascinating journey. I remember back around 2010 when I first saw a modern construction yarn and thought, "What the..?"  Mirasol Ushya, a super bulky chainette yarn, was like nothing I had ever seen, and I was not at all sure I was going to like it. 

Fast forward 14 years, and it's become one of my favorite yarn types.  There are so many different ways chainette yarn can be created.  The size of the fibers knitted into cord, the number of stitches, and  the tightness of those stitches 

Cilantro. One of the most polarizing and divisive food ingredients known. I first tasted it when my Mexican then mother-in-law served me her homemade salsa. I didn’t perceive it as soapy, as so many do, but more metallic. It was unfamiliar for sure. I did grow to like it very much, and still find myself buying a bunch nearly every week.  

But plenty of folks hate the stuff and will simply skip any recipe that calls for it. That’s a shame because recipes are just suggestions and not the law. If you hate
